JenTower – the city’s landmark

The JenTower is 144 metres high and features a viewing platform.
From the top, you can enjoy a fantastic view over Jena and the Saale Valley.

 

Market Square & Historic Town Hall

A lovely starting point for a tour of the Old Town.
Particularly worth seeing are the astronomical clock on the Town Hall and the famous ‘Dragon’,
which are two of Jena’s traditional Seven Wonders.

 

Zeiss Planetarium Jena

One of Germany’s best-known planetariums, which will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2026.
Astronomical shows and other events take place beneath the 360° dome.

 

Schiller’s Garden House

Friedrich Schiller lived and worked here. The adjoining garden is particularly beautiful.
Goethe and Schiller are among the most influential figures in Jena’s history.

 

Botanical Garden

Situated right in the city centre, it offers a lovely spot for a peaceful break.
The garden is considered the second-oldest institution of its kind in Germany;
Goethe also studied the natural sciences here.

   

Johannistor & Pulverturm

Remains of the medieval city defences and particularly beautiful photo opportunities.
The city wall complex is one of Jena’s historical highlights.
